It isn’t an understatement to say that Iron Maiden is now on a pedestal of its own. After more than three decades as a band, the group still manages to sell albums and music merch and inspire numerous novice bands and performers.

Iron Maiden has sold over 75 million records, has been inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk, and has been hailed as one of the most influential rock bands in music history. The band has also been prominently featured in films, video games and songs by other groups, all in acknowledgement of its musical influence. Indeed, Iron Maiden is a legend in the making, if the band is not already one.

Band History

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Iron Maiden especially when it comes to band lineups. Steve Harris started the group in 1975, taking the name from the iron maiden torture tool featured in The Man in the Iron Mask. Harris who is the bassist and studio keyboardist is joined by guitarist David Murray as the only two members who have endured the longest with the band.

Other current members include Bruce Dickinson on lead vocals, Adrian Smith on guitar and backing vocals; Janick Gers on guitar; and Nicko McBrain on drums and percussion while Michael Kenney performs with the group during live performances as the keyboardist. The former members were either fired from or left the group due to personal and professional differences. These former members were Doug Sampson and Clive Burr on drums and percussions; Paul Di’Anno, Paul Day and Dennis Wilcock on lead vocals; and Dennis Stratton on guitars and backing vocals.

Albums Out

From 1975 to 2010, Iron Maiden has generated thirty different pieces of work. These are made up of fourteen Iron Maiden albums, four extended plays, five compilations and seven live albums. Because of the band’s outstanding music and work, the group has firmly established itself in numerous recognition lists. Among the many recognitions that the group has received are the MTV Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time, the VH1 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement.

It’s not possible to gulp down every piece of work associated with Iron Maiden in one sitting. Here are only some of the albums released by the group.

• Iron Maiden released in 1980 is the self-titled album that carries such popular pieces as The Phantom of the Opera, Sanctuary and the self-titled song Iron Maiden
• The band’s highest selling album Number of the Beast came out two years later with Bruce Dickinson on vocals and is thought to be one of the top influential albums of all time in the genre of heavy metal, having sold more than 14 million copies

There is simply no way to sink Iron Maiden. With their outstanding work and huge following, it’s likely they will get enshrined in music immortality or at least in thousands of band posters.

Infrequently do i go out and do this, but I felt like sparking some debate. The fact is this ; I’ve heard more about Drake from the United States than I have from Canada’s own. To assert that any other artist north of the boarder has received as much buzz and expectation for a first album could be unsound compared with Drake. If you look at the most successful Canadian artist, you’ll find some great emcees : Maestro Fresh Wes ( The Godfather of Canadian hip hop ), Saukrates ( Multi-dimensional musical genius ), Kardinal Offishall ( ambassador of Canadian hiphop ), K-os ( simply one of Canada’s premier emcees ). With all of this talent, it may be hard to work out how or what Drake has that should shoot him to the top.

The answer is simple. Lil’Wayne. Drake has not only hip hop’s biggest star at his disposal, but music’s largest star. Whether he makes a decision to ride the coat-tails of Weezy’s success is up to Drake, but it feels like he already has enough of a vibe going with him under Interscope without even putting out an album. With over eighty thousand mixtape downloads of So Far Gone ( with a selection of download links the number might be higher ), I find it terribly hard to say that any of the aforementioned Canadian artists, not to mention an artist of any area code, could pull that off. I continue to remember when he put out 2 joints alongside younger brother ; he was hardly a final thought in spite of his massive amount of potential and talent. Now, the issue is not talking about him and fitting him into that Weezy method of always being a topic of conversation.

Sure, while those previously discussed artists have had tremendous success across the boarder, some fizzed out too shortly ( Maestro ) and some took a bit to get there ( Kardinal ). Drake seems to once have been as loud as ever without ever making any noise. I do not wish to come across like I’m riding this guy ( or take anything away from those Canadian hop hop legends ), I’m sure the ego is probably boosting on the daily, but I think like despite the quality of his music he is going to be on top or at least round the top for a while for reasons that may or may not have anything to do with music.

Canada is stuffed with talent, and if you have spotted, KevinNottingham.com has been hard at work promoting some hip-hop from America Junior, as Homer Simpson calls it. Unfortunately , I will say that Drake doubtless will not have that Canadian Artist- Drake label attached to him for too much time, like how K’naan has been developing in Europe and East Asia and even in parts of the US. The small bit of it all is that if and when Drake does release an album, we will be able to probably expect BET’s countless countdown lists to feature him, for all the girlies to go nuts, and for all of the dominant male hiphop heads to give him his daps. He’s a ton of appeal and will certainly develop amongst even the smallest hip-hop fans, just like his obvious partner in crime, Weezy, has.

Plot :
Naruto Uzumaki is a young boy who has the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox plastered within him. 12 years before the start of the series, the 9 Tail Demon Fox blasted the ninja town Konoha, slaughtering many villagers. In response, the head of Konoha and its ninja military – the Fourth Hokage – gave his life to seal the demon inside Naruto when he was a newborn infant. Konoha, regarded Naruto as if he were the demon itself and neglected him throughout for most part of his childhood. A declaration made by the 3rd Hokage, who replaced the Fourth Hokage later his loss, restricted anybody refer the attack of the demon fox to anyone else. This included Naruto, who was not aware of the demon inside of him.

Years afterwards, Naruto is tricked by a ninja into robbing a forbidden scroll, however he is stopped by his trainer, Iruka. When Iruka nearly dies when defending Naruto from Mizuki, Naruto uses an ability he enlightened from the scroll that creates many replicas of him. This guides Naruto to realize that he is the storage place of the demon fox.

The key story follows Naruto and his friends development. Naruto make friends with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, who are allocated with him to create a 3-person team called Team seven under an experienced teacher named Kakashi Hatake. Like all the ninja teams,  seven is charged with completing missions requested by village people, such as doing household tasks or bodyguards. During the route of their missions, Naruto make friends with other characters that he meets throughout the series. Team 7 study new abilities, and understand a coming-of-age journey as Naruto dreams of becoming the Hokage of Konoha.

A strange organization named Akatsuki tries to capture the nine powerful tailed beasts including the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox stored inside of Naruto. Several ninjas from Konoha, combat against the Akatsuki and hunt for Sasuke. Eventhough they manage to save Gaara the host of the One-Tailed, Akatsuki is winning in capturing seven of the creatures.

The Ruckus Network, in the beginning created by David Galper and Vince Han, was shut down just a short year ago . David Galper and his partner developed the Ruckus Network with one main idea in mind. The two hoped to fill a gap in the downloadable music market while addressing concerns about illegal file sharing . After building relationships with venture capitalists like Shelter Capital and Battery Ventures, the guys were able to raise more than $41.5 million dollars to use in developing the network . Galper and Han began approaching colleges and universities, negotiating with each one directly to offer free music services to college students .

The arrangement was really pretty sweet . University students with valid .edu email addresses were given permission to download files for free . Graduates would then be able to continue downloading via a paid subscription after commencement. Past graduates and those without .edu addresses were not permitted join the network . Students could download songs and add songs to their iPods , but they were not allowed to burn them to disk .

Everything seemed to be running smoothly . By November of 2006, the Ruckus Network had contracted with more than 80 school systems , supporting a network of more than 200 different schools . By 2008, the Ruckus Network had grown to more than 215 partnerships with over 1,000 different schools .

Unfortunately , for reasons unknown to the public , Ruckus ceased updating its library in late 2008. By early 2009, the Ruckus network had been absorbed by Total Music and, within a couple of months , it was gone .

Students have always wanted one question answered . How did such a successful network fail? It was obviously profitable enough to substantiate the level of financial backing it had received, and it was apparently worth purchasing almost 10 years later. So why leave all of these financially strapped undergraduate students in a sad situation ?

These are answers we may never have answers to , but we often ponder one key point . How would the music industry be impacted if something like this incredible network still existed in today’s society ? Would schools find it useful to offer as a perk to students, or would it become a distraction ? No one will ever know.
